Barcelona Loft

The exhilarating part of restoring this old family home was to peel away the decades of modifications - revealing beautiful elements like the typical VigaCatalana(arched ceiling), the ‘baldosa hydraulica’ floor tiles - typical to Barcelona, and perfectly restoring the century old wood windows and roof beams.

The previous room divisions are still evident on the floor as we kept the original floor patterns to flow through the new open plan living space

This restoration was done using natural and traditional materials like limestone and natural bees wax, giving this apartment an experience of having taken a step back in time.

"The highlight of the restoration was when we discovered an original century old fresco, buried under seven layers of paint and wallpaper. This fresco was masterfully restored by an Italian fine arts restorer giving an amazing backdrop to the kitchen."
